Stuart Ralphson
BA(hons) Game Design
Hello, I’m Stu, a Game Designer with over four years of industry experience and a decade of experience in indie game development.
I currently work at Flix Interactive as a Technical Designer, where I’ve worked on several AAA titles, including “Sea of Thieves”, “Mafia: The Old Country”, and a few Rebellion titles in several capacities.
In my time in this role, I have worked to implement quests, story expansions, new puzzle systems, stealth takedown mechanics, vehicle systems design and prototyping, bug fixing, open world linear quests, collaborated with designers and engineers to implement UI, and led the development of several features.
Before starting work at Flix, I’ve worked with several indie developers to create mechanics and systems for unique horror titles, prototyped dynamic dialogue systems, designed/programmed/published a mobile phone title based on an ancient board game, and developed a platform puzzle title within the constraints of the single-input nature of a tap interaction.
My passion is design itself, extending to all forms, from games to architecture, tools to cinema, and everything in between.
I feel design pillars are important to ensure we create features that not only achieve the goal but further enhance the player experience and fantasy.
I’m a self-taught programmer, middling artist, and avid fan of music despite my profound deafness in one ear, which I bring all of into my design considerations, allowing me to work well with multiple disciplines.
In my spare time outside of work, being a husband & father to two boys on the spectrum, I enjoy working on my own design concepts, miniature painting & crafting, camping, and other outdoor activities with friends.
